Initial big-picture planning

Looking at Project Biodiversity:

💡
Project Biodiversify provides ready-to-use examples of research concepts that highlight a diverse set of biologists. We aim to align our research examples with core biology curricula and, at the same time, highlight and humanize researchers as role models for students from many walks of life.

"High-quality research examples done by amazing biologists from under-represented or marginalized groups"

Things to include in slide-deck???:

  • ask people what they would like to see / what type of information would be helpful for a classroom setting
  • images (Professional photo, personal photo)
  • summary of a research paper
  • societal relevance of work
  • research summary

Format of slide deck???:

  • Google slides? Powerpoint?
  • Project Biodiversity uses 3 slides: Researcher profile, Study System, Key Figure.
  • Ready-to-present with presenter notes + additional information available on website
  • Start with Powerpoint slides and maybe integrate them into a website

Collecting information:

  • Online searching
  • Get suggestions from McGill staff
  • Maybe have a way to submit a slide: Google form to fill out?
    • Have the option of either filling out the form or just providing the name of the researcher.

Other ideas:

  • create a landing page with information/statistics about minorities in physics.

Goals for slide use:

  • Easily sort
  • Easily be able to download a single slide
  • Include speaker notes for additional information
  • Create one slide per person
