While making slides, it is useful to document your work. This page will go into details of how all the documentation is organized, wha tit contains, and how to contribute to it.
Slide Deck database
Apart from the notes included here in this database (which contains general documentation), the largest set of documentation for this project can be found here:

This database contains pages which relate to each individual researcher recommended, and is located at the bottom of the main documentation page. Each page in this database contains information about how the slides were made, who recommended the researcher, any additional information to help understand the research, and a copy of all the speaker notes.
How to navigate and sort the Slide Deck database
There are several ways to view this database.
On the top-left of the database, to the right of the title, there is an option to select different views of the database.
These views are made by using the Filter and Sort tools for this database. I configured the views this way, but feel free to change the filters/sort to your liking.
- Progress board: this is a view to see which slides for researchers are at what stage of development. Simply click and drag different researchers into different categories.
- Work timeline: this is what I used to plan which slides I would make at what date. You can customize this as you add more researchers, and drag the researchers around to adjust the dates.
- Alphabetic list: this is a list of all researchers sorted alphabetically
- Full table: this shows all information associated with each input. 'Submission' means someone recommended the physicist, and I didn't decide to do it independently
By clicking on a page in any of these views, you can see all information/documentation for this researcher.
How to create a new profile in the database
To create a new profile in this database, click on the blue toggle next to 'New' at the top-right of the database, and select the template 'NEW PROFILE'.
Fill this template out as well as possible, and change what you need. I simply made this template to make all slide pages cohesive.
Under the 'Link to inclusion in public webpage', you link the page for the researcher in the public 'Featured Physicists' database. This makes for easy access and editing when working on a particular scientist.
To link to the public page, simply type a backslash and select 'Link to a page'. Begin typing the name of the scientist, and two pages will appear to choose from
- One page will be a link to the page you are currently working on (for example, Bringing Contemporary..../Documentation/Slide deck/Vera Rubin). Do not select this page, as it is redundant.
- The other page will be a link to the researcher's page in the Featured Physicists database (for example, Bringing Contemporary..../FeaturedPhysicists/Vera Rubin). This is the page you want to select.
Notes database
The Notes database, of which this page belong to, simply contains all notes made while working on the project. This database can be sorted by selecting different views, using the toggle next to the title of the database.
It is important to keep this database up-to-date with important information that may be used by future contributors working on this project. For example, meeting notes are included here for reference in case anyone has trouble understanding the decisions made leading to the current version of this product. Technical notes are important for teaching the next contributor how to run the website and contribute content. Task notes are for reference in case things go wrong.
If you feel that any information is missing in this database, feel free to add to the pages or add new pages. As you continue to work on this project, this database should reflect the changes you make.
Google Drive
Copies of meeting notes, static versions of slides, media used on the website, google forms and responses, as well as planning documents, are all included in the Google drive:
Contribute to this freely, but please be aware that these are original copies and things should not be deleted unless redundant.
